How to save money this Halloween

Everyone with children will agree that buying costumes for Halloween can be expensive, especially if you have more than one child. With lots of imagination, creativity, and a few items you probably already have lying around the house, you can have the perfect costume and not spend a lot of money.

1
Most costumes can be made at home with any fabric, old curtains, or blankets that you aren't using, such as capes, dresses, skirts, etc.
2
Use flour to make your hair appear gray and kool-aid to add semipermanent color to your hair. Mix kool-aid packet with a spoonful of salt and very little water, then apply to hair for 10-20 minutes. It does wash out after a few washes.
3
Use ketchup for blood and your own makeup, instead of expensive makeup kits. Mixing white toothpaste with red food coloring to make scars and wounds. Just smear it on your face or arm and let it dry. Once dry it should stay on until it's washed off.
4
Make hats and masks out of construction paper or cardboard, then decorate with paints, feathers, or glitter. Attach a ribbon to your masks so you can tie them in the back.
5
Make swords out of cardboard, then cover with tin foil to make them look silver. Smear ketchup on them to make them look bloody.
